Frequently asked questions

What is photo metadata?

Metadata is hidden information saved inside a photo, such as the camera make and model, the date it was taken, the software used, and often GPS coordinates. Phones add most of it automatically.

Why does GPS data matter?

GPS coordinates can show exactly where a photo was taken, including your home. Remove them before sharing photos online, especially with people you don't know.

Does removing metadata reduce quality?

No. JPG, PNG and WebP are cleaned without re-encoding, so the pixels stay identical. HEIC files become JPG, and a rotated JPG is re-saved at near-original quality to keep its orientation.
